VINOS DE FINCA:
FIRST, THE TERROIR
From the cradle of Ribera del Duero, Bodegas Trus recovers the traditional idea of the château to elaborate Vinos de Finca with grapes that have been produced just a few metres away from the wine cellar. A close viticulture in a historically privileged setting.
Our philosophy emerges from vineyards around the wine cellar and from the use of modern techniques for the characterisation of the soil. Thanks to this technology we can divide the land in plots, each one in similar small zones and each of these zones, if necessary, in groups of vines with a similar performance. A new form of understanding the viticulture, in which the vine has something important to say.
THE KEY IS ON THE GROUND
We have more than 60 hectares of vineyard in 14 plots within a radius of 2 km. All of them are grown with Tinto Fino from the area, so the difference depends on the soil conditions. Our project of determination of soils emphasises how the type of soil conditions the contributions of each vine to the wines.
Our short-term aim is to influence the typicality of each plot and to make fermentations separately. Then, we’ll decide if the result can be part of a new assembly or if it can be commercialised by its own. A new challenge. A new path for the wines of Ribera del Duero.
PERFORMANCES UNDER CONTROL.
A KILO PER VINE
It is clear that we will never reach high production rates. Our philosophy doesn’t allow us to force the performances. It is founded on the respect for the plant and for the natural laws of its growth. We want a fair production.
We have increased the plantation density to naturally limit the performance of each plant, in such a manner that the 3,000 kg per hectare are not exceeded, or 1 kilo per vine. We are comfortable with these productions and performances. That’s why we can obtain wines that are similar to the performance of Ribera del Duero. Wines that are faithful to the history of this land and committed to their future.
Are wines are the very essence of Ribera del Duero. Wines that faithfully represent this land: the appropriate point of the oak barrel, the power of the variety and the soil characterisation as the basis for the creation of our wines. Wines with origin.
